Abstract:
Describing and creating images is one of the most important abilities of a poet in
creating a poetic work, because he does this by using his mental and scientific reserves
and by using linguistic and expressive possibilities. Ferdowsi's Shahnameh is one of the
poems that has a high position from this point of view. Finally, Hakim Tous is an artist
who has described situations, persons, conversations, scenes and events by using images
and novel arrays, and has created novel, attractive and lasting images. In this article, the
authors aim to extract and analyze similes and metaphors in the story of Rostam and
Esfandiar with the method of content analysis in order to answer this question: How
much did Hakim Ferdowsi use imagery in writing the story of Rostam and Esfandiar? is
The great Iranian poet presents a wonderful illustration in this beautiful story. It should
be noted that these metaphors are divided into simple similes (epic and non-epic),
explicit similes (epic and non-epic), pure metaphors (epic and non-epic) and makaniye
