Abstract

Examining the role of women in Ferdowsi's Shahnameh and Khamsa Nizami and
reflecting their image is among the debates that have always been disputed by scholars
and researchers. Some believe that the Shahnameh is misogynistic, while others reject
this claim. The purpose of this research is to investigate the character, role and influence
of Shahnameh women in its stories. The personality of each woman in Shahnameh is
unique. Also, the role of women in all the stories of the Shahnameh is not the same and
has different effects, and their role in each era, whether mythological, heroic or
historical, is often different. Examining the character and role of women in the stories of
Shahnameh makes them better known and their actions and reactions are properly
examined in line with the stories. This article first deals with the view of the ruling
women in the Shahnameh towards women. Then it examines the general role of women
in Shahnameh. In the following, it analyzes and examines the role and character of each
of the women in Shahnameh and the influence of each one in the process of the stories.
