Abstract
The contrast between reason and the word love in the mind and history of literature
has always occupied man and has been discussed from different perspectives. Each of
these two in the minds of thinkers sometimes goes aside for the benefit of the other to
make it more prominent and important. Sometimes they are considered as two parts of
one sphere, which achieves the circle of individuality and unity. The current research
has studied one of the connecting elements of reason and love in the story of Zal and
Rudabah with an analytical-descriptive approach with an emphasis on the concept of
love. The need for love and belonging and the need for freedom are very colorful in
Zal's personality, and a large part of his need for power is also filled with these needs.
Therefore, he tries not to spoil his relationship with the elders and achieve his wish
without harming his freedom and demands. In other words, through reflection,
negotiation and awareness, it gives the opportunity for others to change their desired
world by their own choice. It seems that despite the idea of fate ruling over the data of
the Shahnameh, love in its love stories is joyful and leads to connection; Because the
selection element plays a prominent role. The realness of the lover and Wasal in this
story of Zal and Rodabe raises the possibility of their educational function in the
matter of reality therapy. The behavior of all six prominent characters in this story has
different commitment and resourcefulness and destructive habits. Since two words
cannot be considered 100% the same in language, commitment is an element that has
given its arm to the hand of reason on the one hand and to the hand of love on the
other hand. Therefore, relying on this story, commitment can be seen as one of the
elements that connect reason and love.
